Dear Parishioners:
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to put into action the talents and gifts that we have received. The talents are the qualities, spiritual, and material virtues that we all have, thanks to God’s goodness and mercy. We all have them, and no one lacks these gifts. In this Sunday’s parable, Jesus urges us to get out of ourselves, out of our fears, out of our limitations, and work for the growth of the kingdom. In this parable, it is clear that the lazy who do not like to take risks will be left out because God wants us to do our best to work tirelessly and humbly to inherit the kingdom and bring to life this kingdom among us.
I want to encourage all of you to maintain faith and hope and not to lose heart despite the adversities that we may experience; many of you have expressed your concern and disappointment with what is going on in the country. Many hoped that the election results would be different, and it is the reason for such sadness. As your pastor, I must ask you not to lose heart or allow sadness and anger to win this battle. Now more than ever, we have to continue praying insistently; we gain nothing by looking for culprits or getting upset. We have to rediscover God with faith, even in these dark times. Let’s remember what our bishop told us last Tuesday, “No matter the results of the election, one thing is unchangeable: the Lord remains king and ruler of our nation.” And it is something we have to accept with faith. We will overcome this type of situation with fasting and prayer (Mt. 17, 20-21), and just like that, the devil is destroyed. Prayer and fasting are the best weapons, and we can become an army of prayer to overcome all of these adversities.
On another note, next November 17th, the parish school will host a virtual open house so that those parents who are interested in learning more about our school can do so. Perhaps when parents see our school, they will have the confidence to send their children to our school next year. I ask you to please help me pray since the school’s financial situation is not good; but I am confident that we will succeed. Therefore, as parishioners, I hope that you help me promote this open house and promote our school – remember that Catholic education is essential.
Finally, I want to express my sincerest gratitude for your commitment to the weekly offerings; this is an unmistakable sign of love and commitment to our parish. I also thank all those who have made their commitment to the Capital Campaign. Thanks to these commitments and the positive response, we can beautify our Sanctuary. This week, we will begin to paint the ceiling and then the walls. It gives me great joy because that is a unique sign that we are a united parish and continue to move for-ward despite the pandemic. You will receive a letter about this campaign encouraging you to continue with your commitments in the coming weeks. I also encourage those who have not made their pledge to join in this campaign, as there are many are-as of our parish that we need to renovate, and if we all join together, we can have a more vibrant and beautiful parish.

Queridos parroquianos
En el evangelio del domingo Jesús nos invita a poner en acción los talentos y los dones que hemos recibido, los talentos son las cualidades, las virtudes tanto espirituales como materiales que todos tenemos, gracias a la bondad y misericordia de Dios todos los tenemos, y no hay nadie que carezca de dones, bondades y cualidades. Con la parábola de este domingo, Jesús nos impulsa a salir de nosotros mismos, de nuestros miedos, de nuestras propias limitaciones y trabajar por el engrandecimiento del reino. En esta parábola queda claro que aquellos que son haraganes y no les gusta arriesgarse se quedaran fuera, porque Dios desea que nos esforcemos al máximo, que trabajemos incansablemente y con humildad para heredar el reino, y hacer vida ese reino aquí entre nosotros.
Quiero invitarles a todos a que mantengamos la fe y la esperanza, a que no desfallezcamos a pesar de las adversidades que podamos vivir; muchos de ustedes me han manifestado su tristeza y su desilusión por lo que se vive en el país, esperábamos que los resultados de las elecciones fueran diferentes; creo que a todos nos ha dado un poco de tristeza y como su párroco tengo la obligación de pedirles que no desfallezcamos ni permitamos que la tristeza y el enojo nos ganen esta batalla, tene-mos que seguir orando con insistencia ahora más que nunca, con enojarnos y con buscar culpables no ganamos nada; tene-mos que redescubrir a Dios con fe, incluso en estos oscuros momentos, recuerden lo que nuestro obispo nos dijo el pasado martes, “ Independientemente de los resultados de la elección, una cosa es inmutable: el Señor sigue siendo el Rey y gober-nante de nuestra nación” y es algo que tenemos que aceptar con fe. Este tipo de situaciones las vamos a vencer con ayuno y oración (Mt.17, 20-21) y con nada, al demonio se le destruye con oración y ayuno y nosotros podemos convertirnos en un ejército de oración frente a todo esto.
El próximo 17 de noviembre tendremos un open house virtual en nuestra escuela parroquial, para que aquellos padres de familia que tienen interés de conocer nuestra escuela puedan hacerlo, quizás al ver la escuela tengan la confianza de enviar a sus hijos a nuestra escuela el próximo año, les pido por favor que me ayuden a orar, ya que la situación financiera de la escuela no está bien, pero tengo la confianza que saldremos adelante; por ello, espero que ustedes como parroquianos me ayuden a promocionar este open house, y a promover nuestra escuela, recuerden que la educación católica es importante.
Finalmente, les agradezco mucho su compromiso con las ofrendas semanales, esto es una muestra inequívoca del amor y el compromiso con nuestra parroquia. También agradezco a todos aquellos que han hecho su compromiso en la Campaña Capi-tal, gracias a estos compromisos y a la respuesta positiva estamos realizando las reparaciones dentro de nuestro templo; esta semana, comenzaremos a pintar el cielo y seguidamente las paredes del templo, esto me emociona grandemente por-que eso es una señal inequívoca de que somos una parroquia que a pesar de la pandemia seguimos adelante. En las próxi-mas semanas recibirán una carta sobre esta campaña animándoles a continuar con sus compromisos. También animo a aquellos que no se han comprometido a hacerlo a que se unan a esta campaña, hay muchas áreas de nuestra parroquia que necesitamos renovar y si todos nos unimos, podremos tener una parroquia más viva y más bonita.
