Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Gospel of this Sunday caught my attention a lot; hearing about a man with an incurable disease imploring good health at the feet of Jesus is very impressive. This poor man’s phrase is a pleading and humble prayer. “If you wish, you can make me clean”; those are his resonant words when he is in front of Jesus. I believe that at some point in our life, we all have to imitate this man – making our pain, fears, and illnesses a humble and pleading prayer, for sure the Lord will have mercy on us. Let us humbly ask the Lord and transform all we are and have into a humble and pleading prayer.
We are on the verge of starting Lent. This Wednesday, the 17th, we begin this penitential time, which, as we al-ready know, will be different, but I invite you not to allow challenges to change our faith and our practices of pie-ty. We will have three Masses: In English at 6:30 am, 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, and 7:00 pm in Spanish. This year, the distribution of ashes will be different. We will not mark the forehead as it is traditionally done, but we will be able to sprinkle a small amount of ashes on the head, which in fact, in ancient times was the correct way to do it. I hope you understand, as this is part of the directions that the congregation for the liturgy has dictated to us. Let us remember that we are still experiencing a difficult time, and we have to do everything to protect everyone from the virus.
Then, we will continue with the “The Light Is ON for You” program. Every Wednesday, one of the priests will be listening to confessions at 6:30 pm in the Adoration Chapel. I hope that many can attend and receive the sacra-ment of forgiveness of our sins. I will be announcing some other Lenten activities that will enrich our faith and live a more holy Lenten journey.
I also remind you that we will pray the Holy Way of the Cross every Friday in English at 5:00 pm and in Spanish at 7:30 pm. In the same way, I invite you to pray it in private, remember that it is an ancient practice of faith that moves us to join the path of the cross of Jesus. Also, I invite you to pray the Holy Rosary’s Sorrowful mysteries during all this penitential time.
Finally, I announce that we will soon open a small gift shop of religious articles in the parish office, where we will have rosaries, devotional books, and images, and of course, we will offer other items that can help increase our faith and our devotions. Hopefully, this will be another way of evangelizing, growing our faith, and supporting our parish.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas:
El evangelio de este domingo me llama mucho la atención, al ver a un hombre con una enfermedad incurable imploran-do salud a los pies de Jesús, la frase de este pobre hombre es una oración suplicante y humilde “ Señor, si tú quieres puedes limpiarme” esas son palabras frente de Jesús. Creo que todos en algún momento de nuestra vida tenemos que imitar a este hombre, haciendo de nuestros dolores, miedos y enfermedades una oración humilde y suplicante, por segu-ro el Señor se apiadara de nosotros. Pidamos al Señor con humildad y transformemos todo lo que somos y tenemos en una oración humilde y suplicante.
Estamos a las puertas de iniciar la cuaresma, este próximo miércoles 17 damos inicio a este tiempo penitencial, que co-mo ya es sabido será diferente pero les invito a que no permitamos que los retos cambien nuestra fe y nuestras prácticas de piedad. Tendremos tres misas en ingles 6:30am, 9:00am y 5:00pm en inglés y 7:00pm en español, este año impon-dremos la ceniza de forma diferente, no marcaremos la frente como tradicionalmente se hace, sino solo podremos un poco de ceniza en la cabeza, que de hecho en la antigüedad era la forma correcta de hacerlo, espero entiendan pero son las direcciones que la congregación para la liturgia nos ha dictado. Espero su comprensión.
Luego, seguiremos con el programa “The light is on for you” donde todos miércoles estará uno de los sacerdotes escu-chando confesiones a las 6:30pm en la capilla de adoración, espero que muchos puedan asistir y recibir el sacramento del perdón de nuestros pecados. Ya les iré anunciando algunas otras actividades de cuaresma para enriquecer nuestra fe y ayudarnos más a vivir nuestro camino cuaresmal.
También les recuerdo que todos los viernes tendremos el rezo del santo vía crucis en ingles será a las 6:00pm y en espa-ñol a las 7:30pm, de igual manera les invito a rezarlo en privado, recuerden que es una antigua practica de fe que nos mueve a unirnos al camino de la cruz de Jesús, de igual manera les invito a rezar los misterios dolorosos del Santo Ro-sario durante todo este tiempo penitencial.
Finalmente les anuncio que pronto abriremos una tienda de artículos religiosos en la oficina parroquial, donde tendre-mos libros, rosarios, devocionales e imágenes, y claro ofreceremos otros artículos que ayuden a acrecentar nuestra fe y nuestras devociones. Ojala ayude mucho a acrecentar nuestra fe y apoyar nuestra parroquia.
