Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have begun the season of Lent, a wonderful time within the liturgical calendar that invites us to meditate on our own conversion, through sacrifice, mortification, prayer and a more direct and profound contact with God. Also, almsgiving, a sign of detachment from the little we have with those most in need. Each Lent is different because each year the Lord invites us to enter the desert in a different way, with different challenges and purposes. For this reason, each one must take this time seriously and personally and thus achieve more spiritual fruits that lead us to live the celebration of the paschal mysteries in grace and holiness (as it should be).

Seeing where we are in this very special time, I want to invite those who for some time were absent from participating in the masses and parish life, that it is time to return. The Lord awaits for you, He wants to be who sustaines your life, there is nothing greater than to receive His body and blood and above all receive His grace through the sacraments. I invite you to meditate and take it to prayer and begin to return.

I remind you that every Friday we will have the Stations of the Cross, in English at 5:30pm and in Spanish at 7:30pm, and the days of confessions that everyone already knows, plus an extra time slot during Lent –which are on Wednesdays at 6:30pm. I invite you to come and make a good confession.

Also within our Lenten activities, our brother Knights of Columbus will have the traditional sale of fried fish on Friday, March 10th and 24th, they will be serving it from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. You can place your order for take-out or you can stay to eat with your family at Hannan Hall, you don’t need to order in advanced, just come and enjoy with your family; I thank you in advance for supporting our parish.

I want to remind you that next Sunday, March 5th, we will have our monthly Sunday Social, it is a beautiful opportunity to share and to reintegrate as a parish, and as a community. Our volunteers will prepare everything to welcome you after each mass; do not forget to stop by to have a delicious cup of coffee and a nice conversation.

Finally, I want to announce that on March 18th we will have a special dinner and dance, in honor of the feast of St. Joseph. It is an exclusive activity for couples; the cost of the ticket is $100, which includes dinner and other activities that we will have for our couples, I encourage you to participate with your partner. It is always nice to share with your wife or husband or your boyfriend or girlfriend. We hope to see you there.

May God bless you all and let us continue to pray for peace in the world.

Fr. Alex
