Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,
As a Church, we continue to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection, his triumph over death, and within this Easter’s joy today, we celebrate the Sunday dedicated to the Divine Mercy. It is something that goes far beyond a particular devotion; Saint John Paul II, in his encyclical “Dives in Misericordia,” explains that the Divine Mercy is the loving manifestation of God in a history wounded by sin and that God places our miserable situation due to sin in his heart as a Father, who is faithful to his designs. Jesus Christ, dead and risen, is the supreme manifestation and performance of the Divine Mercy. “God so loved the world that he gave his Only Begotten Son” (Jn 3, 16) and has sent him to death so that we could be saved. I like a phrase from the Easter Proclamation that we sung at the Easter Vigil that expresses very well God’s mercy when he says: “To redeem the slave he has sacrificed the Son,” that’s how God is, he loves us with mercy, for this reason by faith and in conversion, we welcome the treasure of Divine Mercy.
Changing the subject; as you may have noticed, we have almost finished rebuilding the confessionals. In fact, since Holy Monday, we started using two of them, and now nearly all of them are finished! It is more comfortable for everyone because now there is more privacy. I thank you for your patience during all this time of renovations; although we are not completely finished. Last Monday, we started with the change of the church roof; this is one of the most significant projects at the moment, and since I arrived ten months ago, this project was already planned, and thank God it is already underway. It is estimated that the completion date will be on May 7th, and the total cost will be $250,000; blessed be God for the generosity of many of you who have not hesitated to help rebuild the house of the Lord. I want to invite those who have not yet made their commitment to the “Capital Campaign” to do so because, with the roof reparation, we will have almost used up all the funds that we have in the
account. I know that the promises still stand and because there are still more projects to be done to embellish our sanctuary further. As we all know, this year is dedicated to Saint Joseph, and some have mentioned to me that our Church does not have an image of him, and that is the truth! There is an image of him in the church, but it is part of the Holy Family. I want to acquire a beautiful statue of him this year and dedicate a space for it. If anyone is interested in collaborating to purchase this statue, you
can contact me at the parish office or speak with me after the Masses. It would be an excellent memory of this year dedicated to the adoptive father of Jesus.
Finally, I continue to invite everyone to be part of our ministries. We need more ushers and lectors, as well as extraordinary ministers of the Holy Communion. I ask you to begin participating. Queridos hermanos en Cristo Jesús,
Como Iglesia seguimos celebrando la Resurrección del Señor, Su triunfo sobre la muerte, y dentro de esta alegría pascual hoy celebramos el domingo dedicado a la Divina Misericordia. Se trata de algo que va mucho más allá que una devoción particular; San Juan Pablo II en su encíclica “Dives in Misericordia”, explica que la Divina Misericordia es la manifestación amorosa de Dios en una historia herida por el pecado y que Dios pone nuestra mísera situación debida al pecado en su corazón de Padre, que es fiel a sus designios. Jesucristo, muerto y resucitado, es la suprema manifestación y actuación de la Divina Misericordia. «Tanto amó Dios al mundo que le entregó a su Hijo Unigénito» (Jn 3,16) y lo ha enviado a la muerte para que fuésemos salvados. Me gusta mucha una frase del Pregón Pascual que cantamos en la vigilia que expresa muy bien la misericordia de Dios cuando dice: “Para redimir al esclavo ha sacrificado al Hijo”, así es Dios, nos ama con misericordia, por esta razón por la fe y la conversión acogemos el tesoro de la Divina Misericordia.
Cambiando el tema; como se abran dado cuenta ya casi se han terminado de reconstruir los confesionarios, de hecho desde el lunes santo comenzamos a utilizar dos de ellos y ahora ya casi todos están terminados, es más cómodo para todos porque ahora ya hay más privacidad, les agradezco su paciencia durante todo este tiempo de renovación que aún no termina. Si se dieron cuenta el pasado lunes ya hemos iniciado con el cambio del techo del templo, este es uno de los proyectos más grandes por el momento y que desde que llegue hace diez meses este proyecto ya estaba planeado y gracias a Dios ya está en marcha, de acuerdo a la compañía estará finalizado el próximo 07 de mayo, el costo total será de $250,000, bendito sea Dios por la generosidad de muchos de ustedes que no han dudado en ayudar para reconstruir la casa del Señor. Quiero invitar a aquellos que aún no han hecho su compromiso en la “Campaña Capital” a que lo hagan, porque con el pago de la reparación del techo hemos casi terminado todo el dinero que teníamos en la cuenta, sé que las promesas siguen en pie y porque aún hay más proyectos que realizar para embellecer más nuestro templo.
Como todos sabemos este año está dedicado a San José, y algunos me han preguntado que por nuestro templo no tiene una imagen de él, y la verdad es que no tenemos una, y la que está al lado del templo esta junto a María, me gustaría adquirir una imagen bonita este año y dedicar un espacio para él, si alguno está interesado en colaborar para la compra de esta imagen, puede contactarme a la oficina parroquial o hablar con migo después de las misas. Sería un bonito recuerdo de este año dedicado al
padre adoptivo de Jesús.
Finalmente, continuo invitando a todos a ser parte de nuestros ministerios, necesitamos más ujieres, y lectores, también aquellos que son ministros extraordinarios de la comunión a que comiencen a regresar, verdaderamente necesito de su ayuda especialmente en la misa de 5:00pm, aquellos que estén interesados en participar por favor comuníquense con nosotros a la oficina parroquial.
Que Dios les bendiga y que su infinita misericordia les consuele siempre.
