QofA School Now Hiring: School PrincipalFebruary 6, 2017
Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia seeks a Principal for the 2017-2018 School Year.
Under the protection of our Blessed Mother and guided by the Holy Spirit, Queen of Apostles Catholic Church is a family of families committed to growing in discipleship of Christ and inviting others to join our family. Our core values are Family, Stewardship, and Discipleship.
Since 2013, Queen of Apostles has been entrusted to the Disciples of the Hearts of Jesus in Mary, a religious order with a particular focus on education and family ministry inspired by St. John Paul II.
Our pedagogy is based on three pillars: Jesus Christ is the Teacher and the keystone who gives unity and meaning to our learning; the educational endeavor is a covenant between parish, family, and school; and, students take ownership of their own stories through the great literary and historic narrations.
The school meets the student at each stage of his development, instilling ever more in the student’s heart a love of wisdom and inquisitiveness in the nobility and greatness of life. A vibrant community comprised of parents, priests and parishioners surrounds and supports each student along his educational journey.
THE ROLE OF PRINCIPAL
In partnership with the Pastor, the Principal animates the educational covenant and authors the narrative of the school. To fulfill this vision, the qualified candidate will evidence the ability to serve capably in the dual and complimentary roles of Teacher and Steward:
Teacher As the “principal teacher,” the qualified candidate will show a deep understanding of the vocation of teacher: to guide and accompany students in their whole development in friendship with Jesus and the pursuit of beauty, good and truth. Some background in the tradition of classical education will be valued. The principal will also ensure the personal, spiritual, and professional growth of each individual member of the school faculty and staff.
Steward As a model of stewardship, the qualified candidate will recognize and cultivate the unique gifts of all those who are invested in the school: parents, parishioners, staff, and others. As a strong leader, will integrate the diverse activities, committees, and other initiatives that complement the core mission of the school under the singular vision for the school as continually developed by the Principal along with the Pastor.
